Class 3R, In Plain English
The one specification worth reading twice — because it is the only one with a rule attached.
What the classification actually says
Laser products are graded by how much light can reach an eye. The LaserMask carries Class 3R at 670 nm under EN 60825-1, and its LED array is IEC 62471 Exempt Group — the lowest photobiological risk group for lamps. Class 3R sits above "eye-safe": brief accidental exposure is unlikely to injure, but deliberately staring into a beam can. That is why the mask has an opaque eye zone with built-in shields, and why the instruction is a rule rather than a suggestion.
- Wear the supplied eye protection every session. It is built into the mask — an opaque eye zone with integrated shields — so there is nothing separate to remember, but the mask must be closed against your face for it to work.
- Never look directly into the emitters — not while the mask is running, not while testing it, not to "check if it's on". The controller tells you that.
- Never point the lit side at another person's eyes, including children and pets in the room.
- Keep the mask closed against the face for the full ten minutes. Lifting it to peek is the one way to defeat the eye zone.
- Remove glasses before wearing. The mask sits closer to the skin without them and the eye zone seals properly.
- If anything stings, aches or dazzles, stop the session. Skin should feel gently warm, never hot, and your eyes should see nothing but the closed eye zone.

Coverage is the specification most sheets quietly skip. A mask can advertise an impressive wavelength list and still leave the sides of the jaw and the skin around the mouth in shadow, because its emitters are grouped where they are cheapest to fit. Spreading 236 emitters over the full face is what makes a ten-minute session the same session everywhere on your face — and it is why the mask has to flex with your contours rather than bridge over them.

The material choice is not only about comfort. Light loses strength quickly with distance, so a rigid shell that arches over the cheekbones delivers less to the skin underneath it than to the ridge it rests on. Silicone that follows the face keeps every emitter at a similar working distance — the reason the same session reads the same across the whole face.

The eye protection is not a separate pair of goggles to keep track of: it is built into the mask as an opaque eye zone with integrated shields. Keeping the mask closed against the face is what puts it to work.
Fit & Comfort
One size, because the silicone does the sizing. Here is how it should feel — and what to change if it doesn't.
- One size, every face
- The flexible body conforms from a narrow face to a broad one; the adjustable strap takes up whatever is left. There is no size to choose at checkout.
- How tight is right
- Snug enough that the silicone follows your cheekbones and the eye zone seals; loose enough that you feel no pressure on the nose bridge. If you can feel the strap, it is too tight.
- Glasses off, contacts fine
- Remove glasses before wearing — frames hold the mask off the skin and break the eye-zone seal. Contact lenses are no obstacle; your eyes stay closed behind the shields either way.
- Hair, beards and brows
- Tuck long hair behind the strap so it does not sit between silicone and skin. Facial hair is not a problem for wearing it — just remember light reaches the skin it can see, so a dense beard shades the skin beneath it.
- Sit up or lie down
- It is wireless and weighs 408 g, so it works upright on the sofa or flat on your back. Nothing is plugged in, so you can move between rooms mid-session.
- If your skin is sensitive
- Start on the dimmed setting for the first week and build up. Skin should feel gently warm during a session and calm afterwards — never hot, never stinging. Stop if it does.
Care & Cleaning
Silicone is easy to keep clean — the whole routine is a soft cloth and thirty seconds. What matters is what you keep away from it.
Wipe and dry
- Wipe the inner surface with a soft cloth, barely damp with water or a drop of mild soap.
- Dry it with a clean cloth — do not put it away damp.
- Wipe your face first if you have applied anything: serum residue on silicone is what makes it feel tacky later.
The deeper clean
- A lint-free cloth lightly dampened with 70% isopropyl alcohol over the silicone and the emitter side; let it evaporate on its own.
- Give the strap and the controller the same wipe.
- If more than one person uses the mask, do this between users rather than weekly.
Keep the charge healthy
- Charge with the supplied USB-C cable; any standard phone charger is fine.
- Top it up before it is completely flat rather than running it to zero every time.
- Charge it to about half every three months if you are not using it for a while.
- Never charge the mask while it is damp, and do not wear it while it is charging.
Roll, don't fold
- Roll it loosely into the pouch — a sharp fold creases the emitter area.
- Keep it out of direct sunlight and away from heat; a hot car is the fastest way to age the battery.
- Do not stack heavy objects on top of it in a drawer or suitcase.
What will damage it
- Never submerge it or hold it under a running tap — it is an electronic device, not a bath toy.
- No abrasive pads, scouring cream, acetone, bleach or solvents.
- No dishwasher, no washing machine, no tumble dryer — including the strap.
- Do not press on or pick at the emitter windows, and do not try to open the body.
Skin prep
- Clean, dry, product-free skin. Anything sitting on the surface sits between the light and you.
- Serums and moisturiser go on after the session, not before.
- Check the medication and condition list in the FAQ if you use retinoids, acids or anything photosensitising.
